Huge snow storm across Ontario and Quebec

Wow this storm started last night about the Halftime show. Snow has not stopped falling. This storm system has crippled all of the school boards across southern Ontario. All Universities and colleges are shut down. Police have ask for everyone to stay off the streets. Right now at 7 am I have a 3' drift across my driveway and the plow has shoved an additional 3' into the bottom of my drive way. This is the same storm that is bringing heavy rain to New England and the Mid West U. S. 

 

I won't be going to work until after we get this mess cleaned up. It will be a while. Stay safe out there everyone. I would not be surprised if some areas lost power last night.

Yup this is not going to be fun. I am waiting until its full light out to even try to go clear the driveway out. We are still under a winter storm and blizzard warning. We haven't seen this much snow at one time for quite a while. They said in Toronto there was one accident a minute. 

 

Around here there was a paper courier that said they got stuck no less than 4 times before 6 am. So driving will not be fun. Most parking lots are not even plowed yet. Even if people made it to work they would get stuck in the parking lot and not be able to move to park because the snow is so deep.

I know! First time schools are closed here where I am (Windsor). Usually, school buses are cancelled but we are expected to show up at work. This time, they closed everything... Phew...Wind was scary last night! Snow came inside the apartment through the air conditioner

Well, we drove around and cleaned our jobs in it last night! What a fun night! No plowed parking lots but amazingly we never got stuck until we drove into our driveway. (Our customers come in when their lots are plowed and have no idea what we did to get in to clean their places. At some we parked near the end of the lot and walked up and in because the drifts were so high. At another we walked the garbage to the tank thru thigh high snow drifts. I am amazed we got all our jobs done (6 jobs = usually 7-8 hrs took 10 hrs last night and that's 3 of us working.

Then, we had to snowblow & shovel our way out. Just about done and yep, the plow came by and did in the end of the drive.

Did I say how wonderful my landlord is? He brought a snowblower last month. After a winter like last one, I was ready to move to an apartment because coming home to a driveway to shovel after working all night was just getting too hard. What a blessing from Jehovah our landlord is! He has been so good to us and has worked with me on rent payments as I struggled the past few years. He wants us to stay so he bought the snowblower.

Here's a picture of the amount of snow that fell last night. Still snowing so when I wake up, (Supposed to snow until noonish) I'll take another pic to compare amounts. That's our backyard patio table.

That's amazing you guys. Is this normal for you or extreme weather? You folks get more snow than we ever will but it is a lot more than usual, right?

Here, definitely not. It is the "warmest" part of Canada and when I moved here, people said how you would barely see any snow. Their winter boots and coats were very light compared to what we are used in Ottawa. But last year was bad, especially temperature wise. What we have now though is not as bad as the 3 feet of snow that NY got last week!

Right now the sun is out and shining brightly!

Little more than normal but we do get a lot of snow off the great lakes in the form of lake effect snow. So we are kind of used to it but this was worse because of the heavy winds. It made driving really dangerous over night. Near white out conditions at times.

Well am not in Quebec, but in Maryland and it's snowing like all get go!  I just went outside to take a peek at my front steps, and stepped very carefully down them and measured the snow fall.  Its about 10 inches so far.  Just shy of 2 inches to make 1 foot.  Also, while I was out there for a few moments it was snowing and sleeting.  The temps were no where near what they have been these past few weeks, like 5, 15, and of course at night with wind chill -20 below.  The temp outside my home is about 33 degrees, wow, that's a heat wave around here!   Can't wait to see my yellow lilies spring up!
