Anyone here waiting for Morel season to kick in?

I wish my grandma was still alive and we had morels where we live. She used to go wild mushroom hunting and knew what to look for. However, by the time I was old enough she had some pretty severe dementia and my mom couldn't trust she would be picking correct mushrooms, so wouldn't let me go with her or eat what grandma picked. lol But, man I wish I had that skill. 

 

There was a guy in NYC that gave lessons on foraging in Central Park, I always wanted to take some of his classes but never could afford it.

They way I am I would pick the WRONG mushrooms. not on purpose of course.

My wife and I went mushroom picking in the forest in the Czech Republic some years ago. Our hosts were very experienced (a lot of Czechs seem to be) but every mushroom we picked they threw away -all poisonous!

Goodness - I haven't thought about morels for years !!!

We used to find them behind Mum and Dad's place, in the bush.

An old boyfriend of mine was good at finding them.

The ones he'd find were huge! 

One slice would fill the pan!

Funny memory!

I have found Morels, Dryads Saddle, Chantrelles, and lions mane. I also found black trumpet but didn't know they were edible at the time.

I don't know what a morel is - never heard of them. Guess I better go google 'em!
