At our meeting today i was told that this sad story was reported on the tv, as apparently someone attending our convention. Very sad.

Couldnt find any more information on this.

There are reports on the BBC News website that do say the girl was believed to be attending a religious convention but I don't think we have one in Nottingham this year.  AFAIK it's Colchester, Milton Keynes and Jersey this weekend.

Either way, tragic news for all concerned.

Thanks for the update. I checked jw.org and there is no nottingham convention listed

Seems like this is an even worse tragedy.  According to reports, the girl was run over by her own father.

In this article it says:

The family were about to attend the Abhishekagni Convention lead by Rev. Fr. Xavier Khan Vattayil from Kerala.

First - TRAGIC news. This is so very sad - and the lives of the parents and family will be forever altered

Next - Are we sure this happened at one of our conventions. That last line threw me.

It's my impression that it was originally assumed that it was at one of our conventions because the news report wasn't specific about what type of religious convention it was. Later it was determined there was no JW Convention in the area at that time and now there is more information on what religious convention they were attending. It does not appear to be related to any JW convention.
