Color Run

Recommended Posts

That would be different. I've never seen it advertised around here as such. I wouldn't do it, but I know a few witnesses in my area who do.

It's normally a main point of the local newspaper articles, and the organizer's own website outright states that it is based on the Hindu festival of Holi.

Even if one particular participant in the run is willfully unaware of the religious association, those in our territory have read the signs, newspaper articles, and websites all promoting "Holi", and they would view us as participating in the religious event. So in my opinion, this is a perfect example of when a Christian should apply 1 Thessalonians 5:21. "Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine."

Just wanted to add a thought. Here in the US and other places, people still use pinatas at birthday celebrations. In 2003 we had an article about it: http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102003687#h=1:0-20:45

I think some of the same principles can be applied to the matter of color runs. :) Quote from Wikipedia- Today, the piñata is still part of Mexican culture, the cultures of other countries in Latin America, as well as the United States, but it has mostly lost its religious character.

Could we say that the color run has mostly lost it's religious character? Just a thought.

That was an interesting article.
