Iodine deficiency and its symptoms

Recommended Posts

So for some time I have been struggling with a number of symptoms.  I have historically craved a lot of salt, but due to water retention I'd gotten rid of my salt shaker.

This deficiency produces a number of symptoms, and unless you eat a lot of seafood or kelp its likely you may be lacking it too.

My own personal symptoms have been fibrous/cyst breast tissue, unexplained weight gain, fatigue, to name a few.

After some discussions with a health care professional, I decided to see whether or not my 'normal' functioning thyroid was actually functioning below my normal level.  What I mean by this is, sometimes when you have a specific test done and it shows within the normal range, it may not have been YOUR normal.

Since I live inland, I hate seafood and I don't eat kelp as a general rule, I decided to try supplementing with a kelp tablet.

I am on day 4, and I am super skeptical, yet I can report..a reduction in fatigue, and an improvement in other bodily functions.  I think its still too early to tell, as I'm at the tail end of the feminine cycle, and I've also changed my diet.

So it could be a number of different things, but I have a headache and its a good thing.  Headaches while taking this type of supplement mean that heavy metals are leaving my body, and toxins are also being murdered at rates which my body is reacting to.  Iodine in particular targets Candida.

I realize my water intake needs to be upped to facilitate the exit of these toxins, so I've just started doing this.  I hadn't yet made the correlation that the headache was due to the supplement.

If you have Hashimoto's disease, this supplement should not be taken without consulting your family practitioner, same with if you're on Synthroid at all for any other thyroid issues.  It can be taken with the synthroid, but your thyroid function should be monitored and so you shouldn't just take this willy nilly without a professional's assistance.

I just thought I'd share, because it has been years since I have had this much energy.
