What card games/board games do you like to play?

It's been a while and we have many new posters, so I think I will bring this to the top.

(Woot!Woot! Love seeing these older posts!)

Cards are always a staple for our groups. Smaller number of people it's Euchre, Canasta, Hearts or Spades. If you have a large group, King's Reverse is great. Played just like Uno, with specific cards designated for special functions (8=skip; 2=draw 2, K=reverse, J=wild, Joker=draw 4 wild) The good thing is you play with regular cards so there's no limit on number of players and just keep adding decks as needed!

Five Crowns is also good for a number of people (available online and now at walmart)

And here's another game...but it can only be played once with the same group of people because it's a trick. It was first played on us by a CO who said he had an amazing sense of smell...and could tell where you stepped because he could smell your feet. He layed out 9 magazines on the floor: 3 rows of three. Then he left the room. Another brother (wise to the game) chose someone to take their shoe off and step on one of the magazines...but only one. Then the CO came back into the room and was asked to identify which magazine was stepped on. The brother helping with the game pointed to a magazine with a yardstick and asked, is this the one? The CO then made a big deal out of getting down on the floor and sniffing the magazine. Then he would say yes or no to whether it was the right one or not. They would go through the magazines until he determined which one. He always got it right...and we knew it was a trick but could not figure it out, because there was never a pattern to which one it was...not necessarily the first one sniffed, or the third, etc. We watched for verbal clues and winks. Sent kids into the other room with the CO to make sure he wasn't cheating!!! :raspberry: The CO was a real ham and made a big deal of sniffing, complaining about peoples stinky feet, etc. The kids LOVED it! It was several visits later before he told us what the secret was.

The brother assisting indicates which magazine is stepped on by the way he touches on the very first magazine. The rests of the points mean nothing and can be used to throw off the people watching. Example: The magazines are layed out like

The one stepped on is the bottom left. The first magazine pointed out to ask "is this the magazine that has been stepped on", no matter which magazine is used first, is touched by the stick on the bottom left corner of that magazine. The CO then knew that the correct magazine was the bottom left magazine in the grid. If the center magazine is stepped on, then the first magazine pointed to would be touched in the center. etc.

Its been a while since we've had fun nights. but before was married, I would organize 60's parties and to warm up

I made up some questions from the Insight books like Who did Isaiah marry and how many children did he have? made up

enough for all to have ago, you fold the paper and put in a bowl and who ever got the answer you pass them the bowl and they choose, I have friends from Chillie he loves to play the guitar and he would play at our parties,

I love card games Canaster or Uno. and 500, Chess, scrabble is great,

"It's a known fact that eighty decibels of rushing water is one of the most pleasing sounds known to mankind. On other hand, ten and a half days at sea is enough water for anybody."

His name was Brother Martin, and yes, he was awesome! He was also the one who always had a parable or fable or story weaved into all of his talks. He'd start out, "once upon a time..." and then go from there. Every so often during the talk he'd add a little more detail to the story, and at the end, "the moral of this story was..." I'm telling you, everyone paid attention...he had you at his opening words!

I was going to recommend quelf! There is also my favorite. It's called what would you do if. You all have a piece of paper and write what would you do if...insert situation here. Then you fold the paper and put it in the middle. Then you all grab one and answer the question. Then one more time put it all in the middle and take one. The first person asks the question that is on the paper and the Next person says thier answer. It is Hilarious!!!
