Hi Sisters, we all have our favorite recipes whether we are frying, boiling, baking, grilling, or roasting. Besides the time-honored salt and pepper shakers, which vibrant SPICES do you like to add to your dishes which may be uncommon in your area or exotic for you?

Does anyone enjoy spices with a little "kick" or those spices which could cause your smoke alarm to set off? :)

For me I love Indian, Carribbean, Asian, African and Mexican cuisines with mild or hot curry, allspice, chipotle, cumin, coriander, garam masala, and paprika are some of my favorites. I'm beginning to appreciate something called "star anise." (It has the fragrance of liquorice and I use it with my Asian dishes.)

What about you? :)

I know I am not a "Sister", but, I do cook and eat food:

Personally, I do not like liquorice (licorice) so I do not like star anise, fennel or any other spice/food that has that taste.

Now, HOT - that is a different story. I don't want "mild" hot, I want HOT!
