(:P)Biblical Trivia Questions

Recommended Posts

Hello friends.

Why did Paul said to Timothy: use a little wine?

Isn't the reason because Timothy had "frequent cases of sickness"? (1Tim 5:23)

On top of that, wine apparently may be more effective than water.

it-1 p. 632

That wine has medicinal properties is confirmed by present-day research. Dr. Salvatore P. Lucia, Professor of Medicine, University of California School of Medicine, has stated: “Wine is widely used in the treatment of diseases of the digestive system. . . . The tannin content and the mildly antiseptic properties of wine make it valuable in the treatment of intestinal colic, mucous colitis, spastic constipation, diarrhea and many infectious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.” (Wine as Food and Medicine, 1954, p. 58) Of course, Paul suggested that Timothy “use a little wine,” not much wine

In 1995 how many hours per year did a regular pioneer have to achieve?

I think it was still 1000 hours that year.

you got it!

So what year did it go down?

I don't know the answer but now I need to know!

Those years were part of my crazy parenting years so I missed lots of new stuff.... Now at least when things go back to original thoughts, anything brought out between the years of 92 and 98, I go "oh I missed that it ever changed" (only partly kidding)

I think my sister was pioneering when it changed. I will ask her.

Yeah, I hear many discussing whether it will go down again.

For myself, I'm just thrilled with the.special activity months with the choice of level we can attain! What a joy to have such a loving provision made!

I get to go to pioneer school on monday---I am very excited, but having to work full time and come up with those 70 hours a month will be no easy feat.

but it is possible with jehovahs help!

Ahhhhh, enjoy pioneer school! What a humbling yet spiritually rewarding experience that was for me! I knew I was a babe at pioneering when I started but when I finished the pioneer school, I felt like I was beginning as a babe again! There was so much to soak in and our instructors really made us think and dig deep! Wish I could do it all again..... Well I never give up hope that I may again pioneer and get to attend another school.

It must be very challenging to be working full-time and 70 hrs too! I think there may soon be an adaptation of hours due to the struggle it is to provide for ourselves at this time of the end. In the meanwhile, may Jehovah keep you going.... One way will be thru the boost of pioneer school!

Pioneer school is amazing-I thought I had a good knowledge of the Truth , then I went to pioneer school and realized how little I knew.It is such intensive study, and nothing you cant read in our literature, but having it reasoned on deeply, and being shown where to look for answers, -it was spiritual paradise intensified a thousand times. What a hard earned privilege from Jehovah-enjoy!

Since we had just discussed the regular pioneer hours, I was just listening to a new mag and heard about the special pioneer hours so thought I'd put it out there.....

Which year did the special pioneer hours reduce to 100 hours from 150 hours?

I sometimes feel it would be so easy if they did bring down the hours again, but at the same time I don't think they will because the hrs required now are part of what keep us so busy, and therefore more focused on spiritual matters. Dropping the annual requirement would definitely give us more free time, but in such a critical time which we live in today, is that really what is best for us?
