Trying to connect PC to Flat Screen TV

Recommended Posts

Any suggestions on connecting PC with Windows XP to a Sony Bravia flat screen? When I did it, the display was in black and white. What am I missing?

What is your connection type? How did you connect it?

VGA cable. I think I'm missing a setting on the PC somewhere. We don't have a fancy video card either, just whatever came with the Dell OptiPlex in 2005 or 06.

Mine just kinda works automatically, but I know I had to specify which was 'monitor 1' and which was 'monitor 2' in the properties (right click on desktop -> Graphics Properties, or for you it might be Properties -> Display).

I hook my Laptop up to my 32" Sony Bravia for the wild karaoke parties I like to throw :)

Success! Got it all sorted. Well, except for the audio. Need to find a connector.

Thanks for all your help. Sometimes even humans need to reboot.

Let me know when you find the human rebooter. I need one for Grumpy.:crackwhip:

The Sony Bravia has a dedicated PC slot in it's options. You need to connect your VGA cable to the slot marked PC/RGB on the back of your TV and then use the 'function' selector to change to PC on the TV. It might be slightly different now, but the connection should be very similiar. If it's set up properly your 'Bravia Link' should switch to it automatically.:hammer:
