China: 6.7 magnitude quake strikes Xinjiang region

The United States Geological Service measured the quake at 6.5 magnitude.

The temblor, which struck at a depth of about 7.4 miles, hit China's Xinjiang Uygur region around 8:24 a.m. PT, USGS said.

This was an odd situation.

Three minutes BEFORE the 6.7,

there was a 5.2 just a few miles from the big one.

 

Usually the aftershocks come after and are much smaller.   Like the two 4.0+ plus that recently were registered in the quake zone.
