Jehovah's Witnesses HQ goes on market

THE WICKLOW-BASED headquarters of the Jehovah's Witnesses has been put on the market with a guide price of €4.5 million.

Watch Tower House at Newcastle is situated on an eight acre site and consists of three interlinking blocks which date back to 1996.

The decision to sell the headquarters at Newcastle has been prompted by a worldwide restricting of the congregation and the administrative functions will be taken over by the British branch. Meanwhile the congregation's needs will be catered for in the 115 separate units already in existence across the country.

Lucy Connolly of commercial property agents Mason Owens Lyons said the building was built to a particularly high standard while the grounds have been generously landscaped.

Mason Owen & Lyons has suggested that Watch Tower House would be suitable for a number of uses including corporate headquarters, a nursing home, retreat centre, conference facility, hospital, children's home, medical centre, hotel, hostel, business training facility or cookery school.

I may be having a little senior moment here but what does this mean, The decision to sell the headquarters at Newcastle has been prompted by a "worldwide restricting of the congregation"?

I think they mean it in the sense of capping, limiting, or consolidating.

Yeah, but it still sounds funny. It sounds like the organization is cleaning house from those no-good Bethelites, LOL.

Isn't the Slave 'bracing for impact' ?

That's a lot of money saving we are doing here. Brooklyn, then this one... Recently, we had the same thing in France, with a lot of french speaking territories added under the responsability of the french bethel, in the same way.

Should we prepare our luggage for the Great tribulation? :shifty:
