solar wind continues to blow faster than 500 km/s (1.1 million mph). Arctic sky watchers should remain alert for auroras during the night of Feb. 27-28.

This NOAA computer model shows more than 50 gigawatts of power surging through Earth's auroral oval at the onset of the storm on Feb. 27th.
