Is There Anyone Here Who Flies Alot?

Recommended Posts

Once upon a time people could purchase airfare with "open returns".  No more; the best you can do is buy a one-way ticket and buy the return later.

Kayak.com is a great place to search just about every airline out there.  If you are hoping for a particular rate, you can put in a tracker with the amount you're hoping for and the site will notify you if it drops to that price.  You need to be quick, however - there is no rhyme or reason to airfares.  A fare of $200 right now could be $500 by tonight.  Then drop again tomorrow morning.  :(  Generally, fares are cheapest within a two or three week window before departure (21 day, 14 day, 7 day purchases; time of year matters.. holidays, weekends, etc).  The closer you get to the date, the more expensive the tickets can become -- unless it's not a very popular flight.  Then, a ticket could be very inexpensive.  Also, much depends on where you're travelling from, to, the route you're willing to take.. if you don't mind a stop or two or three, the flight also may be cheaper than a non-stop.

Where are you hoping to go?

What a nifty privilege!!  My son would be all over those opportunities if he was in any sort of spiritual shape.. :(  He's a journeyman carpenter... he is missing so many things...

Anyway -- what seems best is you source pricing for a one-way ticket to San Juan.  It will be fairly easy to buy a return ticket whenever he is ready to come home.  All you really need is the date he needs to arrive and start to lookin'.  The prices you see right now are not necessarily indicative of what may be available later; unless you see a ridiculously low fare, don't purchase 'til about three weeks out.  That's mainly because if anything changes, it's not likely you'll get your money back (unless you purchase refundable... which is much more expensive).

I've just done a sample search travelling from my area.  As you can see prices vary greatly... but you can set that tracker I was telling you about and keep an eye on price fluctuations.

Hope this helps!  :)

Has he had his shots?

A brother from our area is going in May and he had to have a bunch of vaccination shots.
