Heavy Rains Cause Severe Flooding in Nigeria

 

Heavy seasonal rains have triggered severe flooding in Nigeria primarily in the central and southern regions of the country. Water levels in the Benue and Niger rivers, the two major waterways in the country, have overflowed their banks, displacing thousands of people and leaving over 100 dead.

There are some parts in the state I reside that have water covering the door steps of some houses. People have since moved out. Where I live is on the high land so we here are fortunate not to experience this. I hope the water resides soon. The last time this happened was about 2 or 3 years ago.
