At present bird-flu is not easily transmitted, but of those that have caught it so far 60% died.

The World Health organisation is very concerned about the fact that Dutch Scientists have developed a more contagious strain of Bird-flu. The Scientists want to publish their methods and results, as they claim that it would be useful to the Scientific community in their fight against it and developing vaccines. The WHO and other bio-hazard watching organisations worry that the information could fall into the hands of those who wish to develop a potent bio-weapon, which if released on a perceived enemy, could spread throughtout the earth with devastating pandemic consequences.

One of the comments on the news item: Jeff Goldblum hit the nail on the head with this line from Jurassic Park. "Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
