Any home recordist musicians here?

Recommended Posts

I am on Spotify and other streaming services now. Artist name: undermal (only small letters). I have two songs out.

On youtube as @undermalmusic

I am in a process of transferring several songs from my harddisk recorder to a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), and then releasing it to streaming (after mastering)

I've had a listen to your YouTube channel. I have considered YouTube but not sure about the adverts. I would be interested to know how much input AI plays in your compositions. Almost every daw comes with ai built in nowadays. For me personally, I'm ok with using ai to get the quality sounds, but I won't let it alter the song in any way unless I make the change myself.

I am a songwriter, and I would absolutely never use AI for songwriting, performance/recording or arrangement. Never! I absolutely abhor that idea.

I compare (liken?) 'connecting' to an AI-song to hugging a doll. It could work, but I prefer someone who hugs me back, like music made and played by real people.

Then what about drum machines?? 🤔 They've been around like forever. Hmmm.

Since I am not a sound technician, chatgpt has taught me how to go about stuff in Presonus. Like, how to insert an equalizer into a channel, and how it works. Like a private tutor.

My DAW Presonus Studio One 3(!!) has zero AI 😆 (Sometimes old is gold 🥰 )

I don't need creative suggestions from AI, since I am full of them, haha. Why outsource the fun part of making music? ❤️

Now, I send my mixdowns to a sound engineer for mastering before release to Spotify etc. It has never dawned on me to even ask him whether he uses any AI. I appreciate your question, because I will pass it on to him. Thank you! 💐

I hope you figure out where/how you want to share your music. Have you had a look at DistroKid?

I understand where you are coming from. Ai is a very divisive subject, particularly due to YouTube etc being flooded with music generated artificially by people with no musical skills or knowledge. Most of my songs were originally created between 1980 - 1990, so everything was recorded by real singing and playing, and it has taken me a long time to accept that Ai could be a useful tool. It would be interesting to know how many professional studios use AI in some sort of way. However, at the end of the day, Ai should not be a substitute for real musical talent.

Hi Steve,  Beautiful song  I also number a number of songs on my site eltonhendrix.com   Four you might might like to hear are' Dark Horse 'About when I was going through a though time and the negitive things never seemed to end, 'Earths new distant shore' about our hope, 'Never run away' about loyalty to ones  mate and  'Sailing Ship' about when one makes a bad decision but tries to get back to square. Many of these songs were inspired by Biblical principles that are mentioned in my comments in Behind the song.  Please send me more of your music or  where I can hear them. You have a beautiful talent very pleasant to listen to.   Thanks, Your brother , Elton in Florida,  USA
