From a Public Talk

Recommended Posts

Don't know from where this comes. Our Public Talk included it:

A man, a prophet, had enemies.

They would catch a small bird and hold it in their hands.

They asked the prophet "What do I hold in my hands?"

The prophet would answer 'A bird'.

Then they would ask "Is it alive, or dead?"

This was a trick question. If the prophet answered 'dead' , they would open their hands and the bird would fly away. But, if the prophet answered 'alive' , they would squeeze the bird breaking its neck and open their hands to show the prophet is not a genuine prophet.

So, they asked 'What do I hold in my hands? "

'A bird'

'Is it alive or dead?'

Giving it some thought , the prophet answered with  'As you would have it'  .

About JWTalk.net - Jehovah's Witnesses Online Community

Since 2006, JWTalk has proved to be a well-moderated online community for real Jehovah's Witnesses on the web. However, our community is not an official website of Jehovah's Witnesses. It is not endorsed, sponsored, or maintained by any legal entity used by Jehovah's Witnesses. We are a pro-JW community maintained by brothers and sisters around the world. We expect all community members to be active publishers in their congregations, therefore, please do not apply for membership if you are not currently one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
