I'm gob-smacked!

I first started studying late 70's; baptised in 1986.

 

My family did NOT want to know anything about it. 

My brother poo-pooed it. My sister flared like a Roman candle. My Dad declared I'd burn in hell-fire.

 

Well, my sister's youngest has never shut me down and would respond kindly.

I often wondered about her.

I never got far with her however.

 

Just after the IC in Toronto,  she asked me about it. 

I didn't say much because my sister was there.

Heather was here again this week (visiting at my sister's in Canada)

We were out by the pool. My sister was inside. 

Heather asked again about the IC.

So I excitedly told her about it.

Then (jumping in with both gumboots on) I told her I had a brochure she might like to read. Would she like it?

(I remember thinking to myself - why did I say that?)

And ...

She ...

Said ...

YES!!!!!

(my exclamation and caps)

 

I got a brochure, convention outline and business card of JW.ORG and left them in her bag.

Then I started wondering how to tell her because I didn't want her seeing it and pulling it out of her bag when her Mum was around.

She was alone again so I just 'mentioned' it was there for her, and she thanked me.

 

I have prayed over the years that one person would hear and listen to Jehovah!

(of course, a sister pointed out to me that my prayer had already been answered- I was a lover of Jehovah.)

 

I am still floating somewhere slightly above the ground!

I have a similar story. I started studying in 1978, baptised in 1980, and for the next 30 years I waited for my family. I asked Jehovah for someone of my own. My sister and I went on holiday together, first time we were ever away alone. I took my bible to the beach each day and showed her who Jehovah is. Now she's our sister. Before they died, both of my parents also turned to Jehovah. My father said he'd heard this 60 years ago in Siberia, and he never told anyone, but he was 15 and traumatised and didn't understand. Now, he said, I'd put it all together for him, and he thanked me. I could have cried. 4 months later he died, and sometime later my mother started studying. She was still making progress when she died. 

So yes, gobsmacked! Well done. Jehovah is patient with both us and family members! I hope you also get to have someone of your own in the truth!

I was out witnessing with another sister and I mentioned to her that for some time, I had prayed that could there be at least one person in my family who would come to know and love Jehovah.

She laughed and said - that prayer has already come true!
