Funny platform slips

I attended a couple of different Kingdom Halls in Maine. In the last one I attended, there were many relatives. That cong had undergone some difficulties and a number of elders had quit or gotten quit. The couple of Elders left were doing overtime, while waiting for some balance. The brother that was the school overseer had an elementary school education and was nervous about conducting the school. A couple of the removed elders were what he considered his "smarter" fleshly brothers.  His wife said,  "If Jehovah is using you, you should continue." He had a tendency  to substitute or switch words altogether. I can't remember them all, but every one would usually try to keep straight faces, knowing how hard it was for him, while his wife squirmed. On a talk about dressing modestly, he said, "Sisters, you have to watch out for those dresses (crosses and uncrosses his arms about chest level) because some of them show off your gumdrops." Nobody knew exactly what he planned on saying, but  it was a surprising delivery, and for some reason the contagion of squelching-laughter-under-hands caught on. His wife nearly fell off her chair.

Some years ago, at the end of a Circuit Assembly, the Chairman announced that "Tea and hot snakes will be served at the back of the auditorium".

That was an unforgettable moment. 😊
