Hi to you dear instrument lovers. I am recovering from severe carpal tunnel syndrome and have gone from complete loss of hand movement with pain (May 1, this year) to strong recovery of hand motion, but not complete strength (yet). I have decided to practice w learning an instrument. I have always been a singer and had many solos throughout school. I had a few accordian lessons when I was very young and was able to  keep the keyboard and chords in time while reading a bit of music. I have always particularly enjoyed piano. Looking at online lessons: Guitars seem to be the most accessible to the learner as well as the most easily transported. Am considering buying and self teaching either guitar or keyboard. Any suggestions  will be graciously embraced. I have seen 61 key pianos online instead of the customary 88. Has anyone tried one of these? Thanks, Y (flying phalanges)S

If to talk about 61 key synthesizer/digital pianos, I have one myself for 4 or 5 years and use it until now. Especially for newbies, I think 61 key piano is enough.

There's good discussion about that: https://www.quora.com/I-want-to-learn-to-play-the-piano-If-I-get-a-61-key-keyboard-how-much-would-I-be-limited-in-my-songs-Would-it-be-better-to-get-an-88-key-keyboard
