I don't have to say anything negative about Windows 10 (before used Windows 7). No complaints about that. Got free version because, like Microsoft said, everyone Windows 7 user had a chance to upgrade their system to Windows 10 for free. And I grabbed that chance.

It’s not about money my brother, but about computer experience.... windows 7 is so stable and uncomplicated

I strongly considering switching to Mac for banking and business, and running windows 7 for as long as possible for other things ...still thinking if this is good idea....

Microsoft Security Essentials and maybe occasional Malwarebytes scans and a safe browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, etc) are pretty much all you need for web security in Windows 7, but nobody should really be using the operating system after support has ended. (PS: Easily download, install and update all of your necessary software at once on Windows without the bloat from Ninite https://ninite.com/) Browsers will stop supporting Windows 7 eventually, like Chrome doesn't officially work on Windows Vista or XP anymore because they're so very easy to break into which compromises your online accounts. As Qapla mentioned, it's possible to install and use Windows 10 without activating a license. It just disables changing visual features like the desktop, and it doesn't have the moral issues of buying cheap gray-market licenses. But personally, I recommend everyone on older systems switch to Linux if Windows 10 isn't an affordable or agreeable option. https://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=major You can shrink the Windows partition on the hard drive and install Linux on the rest of the disk if you're worried about losing the Windows data. Linux Mint Cinnamon is one of if not the easiest version of Linux to get into and is very simple to set up to look and function like Windows 7, while being cleaner, performing better, and more aesthetically pleasing. https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mint It comes with all of the basic software that you need to do pretty much anything. Linux can even run Watchtower Library and some other Windows software through a compatibility layer known as WINE https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1485 or a frontend like PlayOnLinux. https://www.playonlinux.com/en/app-1959-Watchtower_library.html

If you want something more focused on stability, maybe look into MX Linux which isn't too far from Mint. https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mx

I really don't see what people have against 10 ... my migration from 7 to 10 was painless ... and I only have 4 GB in this PC

The main issues with Windows 10 are forced updates and restarts while you're working. The restart issue, they've more or less addressed by now, and you can delay updates better as well. For example, my old PC which I had set up for my dad and did the free upgrade to Windows 10 (towards the end of the free update cycle since I wanted to avoid as many bugs as possible), had some kind of electrical short affect the motherboard that caused one of the RAM slots and the restart/sleep function to break. So, we had a Windows 10 PC that constantly forced system updates and restarts, but because whenever it restarted it would go into a powered on but non functional state, it caused all of the updates to break unless I found some way to do it with manual shutdowns, and took several hours to revert the PC each time. We nearly lost the data on it, but I ended up backing it up and switching it over to Linux in the meantime while I built him a new PC that I set up with Linux Mint. He's had no issues adapting to it since I set up the GUI like Windows 7/10. And the PC itself has had absolutely no problems with updates breaking or causing issues since first installing Linux on it a couple of years ago.

There are frequent news articles in the tech circle on major bugs and computers breaking with Windows 10 major bi-annual updates, so people don't want to deal with that. Personally, I just tend to delay the updates until they work out the teething issues.

I have been trying to upgrade to Windows 10, I wasn't able to get the free upgrade.

But I have not seen a good discounted price yet, so I am patiently waiting.

Windows licenses simply don't go on sale, the only real discounts are when you buy a cheap PC or Laptop that includes them. You're often better off buying a $150 refurbished PC https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/pc/13896597011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_pc, such as a 4th Gen Intel i5 CPU with 8GB of RAM and a Windows 10 Pro OEM license. You can add an SSD drive for $30 and you're pretty much set. https://www.amazon.com/HP-ProDesk-600-G1-SFF/dp/B07BCGW85X/ref=zg_bs_13896597011_8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=SJJQC94G8K09N0F88CF2

In a process of upgrading my whole computer needs this week ....

Monitor is in... the “custom box is still being assembled and tested in the shop”

In a week or so I should be running windows 10.

My Cobe is re assuring me that windows 10 is not that bad, he is a bank manager and strongly advised me from using windows 7 due to the security holes, that will develop over time after January 2020.
