Any Brothers in the Forum from Turkey?

Recommended Posts

I don't think there's anyone from Turkey here in the forum, but you could contact your Bethel, and they'll give you all the information you need.

I don't think there are many congegrations there, there are only 2000 publishers with a 72 mio population... :scared: But I think the ones you meet will be really happy to meet you!

Yeah, but there has also been very fine progress on the legal front for our brothers in Turkey. The new 2012 Yearbook has a picture of Witness children as they have been freed from religion lessons at school. And apparently some Turkish government minister [i say apparently because I haven't heard this from any confirmed source, only seen a clip on YouTube] recently praised Jehovah's Witnesses for taking their stand in the military draft/civil service issue.

I have never been to Turkey myself but as an addition to the facts Astrid mentioned, I'd _imagine_ that Istanbul being a cosmopolitan city, our brothers may not have that much problem with worshipping Jehovah freely as well as with the preaching work.

As Astrid said, your best bet would be to write the Turkish Bethel. If their answer seems to delay, something that can become an issue if there's a rush, you could consider asking an elder in your congregation for meeting times. I mean by now most computer-savvy elders should have an access to jw.org and meeting times and locations worldwide. Then it's a different thing how to find your way to a Kingdom Hall...with the help of Istanbul's taxi drivers that is :loopy:

Oh yeah. If you prefer writing them a letter, the address should be as below. As found from http://www.watchtower.org/address/article_01.htm on this date (Tuesday, February 14, 2012 3:26 PM)

Jehovah's Witnesses (or in Turkish probably "Yehova’nın Şahitleri" -- as found at http://www.watchtower.org/tk/jt/article_01.htm)

PO Box 23

Feriköy

34378 Istanbul

TURKEY

(Seems that the Bethel is located the European side of Istanbul if this map is to be believed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2_digit_postcode_turkey.png = Bethel "posta kodu" beginning with 34)
