Signs Antarctica is starting to lose Ice gains just like 2023. On March 2nd it was 21st Lowest, today is now at 13th Lowest.

This is really big news.

 

The collapsing of the Thwaites Glacier sea Ice Shelf is now Imminent, it is projected to break away from Antarctica this year. The cracks are quite big and visible now. This sea Ice Shelf is no longer holding the Thwaites Glacier back.

 

Once this land Glacier starts flowing off the continent and into the sea as Icebergs, we will start seeing a calamity because it will add sea level rise worldwide. How fast will this happen, don't know. We know it will be happening.

 

Now with this massive El Niño being formed right now, all that heat in the Ocean will just speed things up, Antarctica is now 5th lowest on record.

Antarctica now 3rd lowest, losing gains during winter.

Antarctica now at 2nd lowest. Massive Ice losses for 3 days straight during refreeze season. Melting season starts around Nov 1st. Ocean are at its hottest ever since record keeping began.

One more reason why we know we are so close to the end of this system.

The eventual consequence is sea level rise worldwide, not from this floating and moving Thwaites Western Ice Tongue in that Gif, but from the highly unstable Thwaites Glacier that is being held back by, along with all of the other Glaciers beside it. Thats why the Thwaites Glacier is also known as the Doomsday Glacier, because there are grave consequence if the Ice Shelf collapses, which we are witnessing right now.

 

No one knows yet what caused the Ice Shelf to shift suddenly, one theory is it could be Thwaites Glacier starting to collapse into the Ocean causing that push. Another theory is there are pinning points in the Ice Shelf and perhaps it unpinned and is freeing the Ice Shelf to move with the help of the winds. Dont know exactly yet.
