Menopause Poems

One of the virtual writer's groups I'm with has come up with the idea that we should write a poem a day in February. I'm not much of a poet, in fact, I kind of favour limericks but that's a whole other blog entry unto itself.

I'm not very good at keeping a schedule, but this writing group has helped to keep me on track. Encouraging me to show up daily and at least put something to the paper. So while I'm not much of a poet, I decided to write about menopause. Maybe daily. Not sure yet. It might be funny to see what I come up with. Twenty-nine odes to the lady bits. I could do an anthology, set to angry punk music.

Yes. I can see it now. Brilliant.

Oh, why menopause you ask? I'm only 46. I don't think I'll come right out and say right now. You'll have to follow the blog to find out what happened and why I've decided to write about it. *It's below this entry*

Poem #1
For February 1, 2020 written on February 2, 2020.

Roses are red,
My diets off track,
My pants don’t fit,
I’m on menopausal crack,
I’ve got cravings galore,
And lack a pelvic floor,
My poetry ain’t great,
But I’d suspect there’s a much worse fate,
Like night sweats and hot flashes,
And belly fat gain in store,
So I’ll sit on my couch,
Chewing lettuce with disdain,
And fantasize I’m 20 again.

it makes me feel like a geek

one minute I'm hot.....

the next I'm not.....
