Who Does Needlework??

Recommended Posts

This is an interesting thread & I only just started exploring it.

I looked at all the wonderful work you sisters do. We are a creative bunch aren't we?

Here is a link to a university website I put together for a class and there are a few pictures of my work. -->> http://arapaho.nsuok.edu/~manuslm/finalProject.html

Sorry I didn't make the pictures larger but its rather late at night for me as I'm typing this up and I plan on removing the website in late May anyway.

My hobbies include knitting, sewing, crochet, beadwork, and jewelry (there are more but this is a needlework topic after all)

My current projects include a table runner (filet crochet with crochet thread)

a purse (crochet with nylon cord)

slipper socks (knit with lightweight worsted on dpns)

and a baby blanket for a pregnant sister (knit with fingering yarn on circular needles and the pregnant sister is the one modeling the necklace in the link above)

Once I finish my university degree in 6 weeks I'll have more time and plan on finishing all the undone projects I have laying about the house. Hopefully that is.

Hey, I crocheted a shrug in my fav squares to wear over my sleeveless dress. I used to weigh much more than I do now and have big arms. So I designed the shrug to go over the dress. The yarn is sparkly aqua and looks so well with the dress. I will take pics at the Memorial tonight showing the shrug and my kids and hubby. Then I can post them here for all to enjoy!

Love you guys!!!! :crush:

Chris - your Avatar reminds me of Kelly Clarkson. Can you sing too?

Jerry I CAN sing! LOL I think I was prettier than Kelly as a young woman. I think NOW - that I was really beautiful. I never heard it at all from my hubby so I guess I did not believe it for a long time. Looking back, I was so lovely. Time, fat, gravity, old age - it does terrible things to lovely young things. Now I am an old woman with high cheek bones and a big chin! LOL I resemble my father's mother! YIKES!!!! :wheelchair:

I discovered one day, while singing 'Dream' by the Everly Brothers with my Mom, that I could harmonize - PERFECTLY! We sang in perfect harmony and just LOOKED at each other when the song ended! After that I found out that I knew how to sing like this and have sung harmony ever since. Sometimes I sing in harmony at assemblies with many other voices. It always sounds so lovely with so many singing the melody.

Ha ha ha, so true. I never appreciated being thin and I never thought I was lovely but youth is beauty. Now my mouth droops at the corners thanks to gravity and I have to remind myself to smile cause the "natural face" looks cross and cranky and I don't want to frighten the children :D

Your avatar pic is gorgeous, just love the hat too.
