Tuesday, April 20

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.—Matt. 11:29.

That invitation is open to all—Jesus will never reject anyone who sincerely wants to serve God. (John 6:37, 38) All of Christ’s followers have been given the privilege of sharing in the work that Jehovah has asked Jesus to do. We can be certain that Jesus will always be there to help us do that work. (Matt. 28:18-20) Humble people were drawn to Jesus. (Matt. 19:13, 14; Luke 7:37, 38) Why? Consider the contrast between Jesus and the Pharisees. Those religious leaders were cold and arrogant. (Matt. 12:9-14) Jesus was warm and humble. The Pharisees were ambitious and proud of their high position in society. Jesus discouraged undue ambition, and he taught his disciples to view themselves as lowly servants. (Matt. 23:2, 6-11) The Pharisees dominated others through fear and intimidation. (John 9:13, 22) Jesus refreshed others by loving acts and kind words. Have you learned these lessons from Jesus? w19.09 20 ¶1;21 ¶7-8; 23 ¶9

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

1 Samuel 6:7 Now get and fit out a new cart and two cows with sucking calves, cows that have never had a yoke put on them, and hitch the cows to the cart and take the calves back home away from the mothers

Quote

It is probably significant that two animals were chosen and that they had not previously been used as draught animals. Where one cow might pull the cart wherever it wished, two would not be expected to maintain any kind of recognizable route without being guided. The fact that they had not previously been yoked would have added to the unlikelihood that they would pull in unison for any length of time. These specifications were intended to be a test of the Israelite God

Scientists have discovered that daydreaming is an important tool for creativity. It causes a rush of activity in a circuit, which connects different parts of the brain and allows the mind to make new associations.

1  Sam. 6: 12-15 and the cows took a straight course toward Beth-Shemesh, going along one highway, mooing as they went, and not turning off to right or to left; and the Sarns of the Philistines went behind them to the Beth-Shemesh boundary.  And the men of Beth-Shemesh, who were reaping the wheat harvest in the vale, raised their eyes and saw the ark and came joyfully to meet it;   and the cart came into the field of Joshuaʽ the Beth-Shemite, and stood there, where there was a great stone; and they split the wood of the cart and sacrificed the cows as a burnt-offering to Jehovah.   And the Levites took down the ark of Jehovah and the box that was with it, in which the golden objects were, and put them on the great stone, and the men of Beth-Shemesh offered burnt-offerings and sacrifices on that day to Jehovah;

When the Philistines, plagued by disease, sent the ark of Jehovah back to Israel, the cows pulling the wagon of their own accord headed for this Levite city of Beth-shemesh. However, the improper action of some of the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh in looking upon the ark of the covenant brought death to 70 of them. (1Sa 6:9-20)
