Some have been led astray from the faith.—1 Tim. 6:10.

The expression “led astray” indicates that we could become distracted by trying to acquire unnecessary possessions. We could then expose our heart to “many senseless and harmful desires.” (1 Tim. 6:9) Rather than allowing those desires into our heart, we must see them for what they are—weapons that can harm us. Suppose we have the financial means to buy many material things. Are we doing something wrong if we purchase things that we want but do not actually need? Not necessarily. But reflect on these questions: Even if we can afford to buy something, do we really have the time and energy to use and maintain the item? Also, might we become overly attached to our possessions? Could our attachment to material things cause us to act like the young man who turned down Jesus’ invitation to expand his service to God? (Mark 10:17-22) How much better it is for us to lead a simple life and spend our precious time and strength in doing God’s will! w19.11 17-18 ¶15-16

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

To be led astray from the faith could convey the idea of roaming around lost in our own world away from Jehovah. Perhaps  that's what happened with Lot's wife. She had build up a life for herself and couldn't  see past it to see the impending doom about to happen.  When the time comes, we want to be able to drop everything and walk away from old system of things.

There's a series called Hoarders about people that cannot give or throw away anything, and it eventually becomes an obsession and a danger to their health and safety. It even becomes more important to them than their own families. The last I heard there are over 19 million individuals just in the US.

Authorities say it is a sickness triggered by trauma and other bad happenings in their lives. But I've often wondered if it could also be a form of materialism and greed for things that they don't need taken to the ultimate degree of mental illness...or the other way around...either way it's all based on material things that are no benefit to them in the end. It causes them untold suffering and death, not only to themselves but their loved ones. This love may have cost the life of Lot's wife.

I've also wondered too how many homes we may have called on over the years that were cases like these that never answered their doors for this very reason... so it could have cost them the chance at everlasting life....

One small crack doesn't mean you are broken; it means that you were put to the test and didn't fall apart..

Jehovah understands the difference between any form of mental illness and greed. 1 Thess 5:14. …speak consolingly to the depressed, support the weak…
