Micheal Behe new book

Recommended Posts

Behe is at it again. Plus, I have something to read this winter too. He is getting almost 5 stars on his new book too. Past  Saturday, I witness to a librarian who believe in God and I mention about Behe, he very interested what he saw about him and told me about Behe new book. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1936599910/?attr=di

Sinopsis

Quote

In 1996 Darwin’s Black Box thrust Lehigh University biochemist Michael Behe into the national spotlight. The book, and his subsequent two, sparked a firestorm of criticism, and his responses appeared in everything from the New York Times to science blogs and the journal Science. His replies, along with a handful of brand-new essays, are now collected in A Mousetrap for Darwin. In engaging his critics, Behe extends his argument that much recent evidence, from the study of evolving microbes to mutations in dogs and polar bears, shows that blind evolution cannot build the complex machinery essential to life. Rather, evolution works principally by breaking things for short-term benefit. It can’t construct anything fundamentally new. What can? Behe’s money is on intelligent design.

I read that book and his previous one.   He reiterates his argument of  irreducible complexity, which posits that certain biological systems, such as the bacterial flagellum, are too complex to have evolved through a series of gradual, intermediate steps.

Like a mouse Behe argues that a standard mousetrap is an example of an irreducibly complex system. This means that the mousetrap requires all its parts to function. If any single part is removed, the mousetrap will fail to work.

This illustrates his point that certain biological systems, like the mousetrap, cannot function if they are missing any of their parts. They must have all parts present and correctly assembled from the start....not evolve gradually.   A strong argument against evolution and for intelligent design. :coffee:
