JW Library Won't Load on iPad

Recommended Posts

Hi friends, I'm seeking some technical assistance for my situation, and couldn't find anything specific when searching this forum.

I have a 2018 iPad running the latest iOS, and it's operating just fine, with the exception of it being unable to load JW Library. This started about a week ago. When attempting to open the app, the screen stays on the JW Library logo with the white background for about 10 seconds, then the app crashes. When this first started, the app would load to the home screen for about a second, but then crash all the same. Now though, it won't get past the loading screen.

I've tried the typical troubleshooting methods, including restarting the device, resetting all device settings, making sure both the iOS and JW Library app are up-do-date, I've tried offloading the app and reinstalling it, leaving it for a few days and trying again, and unfortunately nothing seems to be working.

At this point I believe my only course of action is to either delete the app and reinstall it, or to reset my iPad completely and restore it from a backup. While the hassle is annoying, I can live with the inconvenience. I do have a JW Library backup file I can use if need be, though unfortunately it's a few months old (yes, lesson learned!), so if need be I can always restore the app using that file.

Is anyone able to confirm if my deleting (and then reinstalling) the app will also permanently delete all the app data as well (Personal Study notes, highlightings, etc?) Would it be better for me to restore my whole iPad from a backup since JW Library is apart of my iCloud backup? Again, worst-case scenario allows me to restore the app with a fairly-recent JW Library backup file, though I would like to pursue a solution that ideally allows me to regain as much current data as possible.

Any help is gladly welcome. Thank you friends!

Update; well, oddly enough, the problem seems to have resolved itself. The iOS and App were not updated since yesterday. The only thing different is that I created a local backup of my iPad on a Mac Mini and let it sit for several hours. Last evening, I was able to run JW Library just fine, and immediately created a backup file should the app fail again.

Perhaps this thread may be of help for other users who at times may experience similar technical difficulties.

I am no help but I can’t download it on mines either. I thought it just couldn’t hold it. Please inform me if you finger it out.

As it turned out, despite my earlier success after creating a backup of my iPad and having the app load correctly, it started exhibiting the same failures. Thankfully at that point I had created a local backup of the JW Library app, so I decided to delete the app entirely, reinstall it, and restore my study notes from my local backup. It has since been working correctly, and I imagine the recent app update will allow the app to continue to work properly.
