Theocratic Poetry

Recommended Posts

Hello dear friends! I found this group but wasn't sure how to upload our stories, poetry, musings... etc.  I hope I am doing this correctly.

Below you will find a few of some of my older poems.  Please let me know what you think.

The first poem is one that I wrote for the elders in my congregation:

A Poem of Appreciation

For all the things you do for us, we would like to say Thank You.

You have been given a serious job from our Father and great God Jehovah, and you have accepted the task with joy. Thank You.

You shepherd the flock with tender loving care. You provide counsel and at times needed correction, guided by Holy Spirit through eager ernest prayer. Thank You.

No matter the time of day, we the sheep know that when we need you we only have to call. Thank You.

The Scriptures say you are “Gifts in Men” and truly you are. Our beloved elders of the Madisonville congregation whom we treasure and adore -- Thank You.

This next poem I wrote when I really reflected on how the scriptures improve our lives.

READ, RESPOND & RELY

Reading, 'Riting, and 'Rithmetic may be the branches of the learning tree.

But truly I say to you that there are 3 R's, that can lead to life eternally.

READ, RESPOND & RELY!

Give these three a try.

Sing with me this happy song,

Jehovah's Word is never wrong.

When you daily the Bible READ,

you allow Jehovah to plant a seed.

Once that seed takes root and grow,

in your life Jah's spirit will flow.

READ, RESPOND & RELY!

Give these three a try.

Sing with me this happy song,

Jehovah's Word is never wrong.

When to the Bible you RESPOND,

with Jehovah you build a bond.

A bond that lasts your life through,

and friendship with his son Jesus too.

READ, RESPOND & RELY!

Give these three a try.

Sing with me this happy song,

Jehovah's Word is never wrong.

When upon the Bible you RELY,

Blessings from Jehovah will multiply.

All of this is with great certainty,

because God's Word is for eternity.

READ, RESPOND & RELY!

Give these three a try.

Sing with me this happy song,

Jehovah's Word is never wrong.

Lastly, this next poem is one that I wrote after a dear friend, who was like my baby sister, had passed. I decided to post a picture at the end of this poem. 😀  I am the sister on the right.

Keep On Keepin’ On

Right now we are feeling much heartache and sorrow.

But remember my friends… we have a brighter tomorrow.

A time where pain, sickness, and Death itself will be done…

All wonderful blessings we shall see if we just Keep on Keepin’ on.

I can hear you urging us to keep up our pace.

You have fought the good fight… you have finished your race.

Towards our goal we are still running, in paradise with you we shall join.

Our God Jehovah, who cannot lie, says we will... If we just Keep On Keepin’ on.

Right now my dear sister, for a little while you sleep.

Our Father’s loyal love is just and true… safe in his memory you will keep.

The time is now urgent much more work is to be done…

We cannot tire out… We MUST Keep on Keepin’ On!

From the 11/1/23 daily text comments:

Title: Jehovah's Guidance

In the face of the opposer's ire,
Jehovah's calm embrace takes you higher.
Recalling scriptures, a wellspring of light,
Guiding the lost to paths that are right.

Midweek meetings with conversations pure,
Training hearts to speak with motives sure.
Overcoming apprehensions, stepping beyond,
Spreading His word, the call to respond.

Conventions beckon, with forms anew,
Challenges embraced, blessings ensue.
Leaving comfort's grasp, in faith's firm stance,
Jehovah's guidance, our divine dance.

NOT written by me, just shared.

"Integrity in Leadership"

Amidst distrust and political haze,

Yearning for leaders' trustworthy ways.

A survey's voice echoes loud and clear,

People seek integrity without fear.

In the sacred text, a vision unfurled,

Of a government led by an untainted world.

God's Kingdom, they say, the ultimate reign,

With Jesus, its Leader, free of all stain.

A track record of care, the scriptures attest,

A heart for the people, truly blessed.

As King, he'll deliver justice and peace,

To all who embrace, their strife to cease.

Chosen by Jehovah

In a world where captains choose the best,

The skilled, the swift, the brightest, the rest—

Jehovah’s way is a different view,

He sees beyond what mortals do.

It’s not the strongest, the boldest, or grand,

But hearts that humbly heed His hand.

He chose a young woman from Nazareth small,

To nurture the Savior, the King of all.

Mary, unwealthy, her name unrenowned,

In her Jehovah’s delight was found.

A heart full of faith, obedient, sincere,

She answered with trust, no doubt, no fear.

“Jehovah’s slave girl,” her humble reply,

Her life transformed in the blink of an eye.

Through Scripture’s depth, her soul would sing,

Of prophets, of psalms, and the joy they bring.

Jehovah values the meek, the pure,

Those willing to serve, those who endure.

It’s not our might or worldly acclaim,

But faith and love that glorify His name.

So let us strive, with hearts sincere,

To be the kind Jehovah draws near.

For in His work, there’s no greater part,

Than serving Him with a willing heart.

Jehovah's Name (Poem)

Long ago when I was young

And learning from my parents tongue

I came to know of many things

To know the joy that learning brings

I learned the origin of man

I learned just how it all began

I knew of mighty men of fame

But I didn't know God had a name

As time passed by, my knowledge grew

There seemed no end to things I knew

The alphabet now came alive

I knew my numbers well past five

I learned of people and their acts

I learned great scientific facts

I knew of Christ who healed the lame

But didn't know God had a name

One day a stranger spoke to me

And told me where to find the key

To knowledge of eternal life

Devoid of illness, pain and strife

I listened to this humble man

As he unfolded Gods great plan

He told me of the Kingdoms birth

How men would beautify the earth

He told of things I'd never read

I somewhat hesitantly said,

Tell me please, does he have a name

This God of unsurpassing fame?

He said "Would you please take the book

I hold here in my hands and look

Until you find Psalm 83

And then read verse 18 to me?"

Thus as I read That men may know*

I felt the tears begin to flow

For here before me I could see

The answer to this mystery

"Jehovah* was his name I read

Yes, that is what the scripture said

I thanked the man who came to share

And brought the answer to my prayer

Mean Parents

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES MAKE MEAN PARENTS

I have the meanest parents in the world. They are Jehovah's Witnesses. They have very, very strange ways and guidelines that they believe in despite any influence that this modern, up-dated world has to offer.

My mother and father always insisted that they knew where I was. Not only that, they made special arrangements to be with me wherever I would go. I couldn't go anywhere without them. When other children on the block would be playing in the streets or later in teen years, down at the local video arcade, I would be with my "mean" parents going out from house to house. I was seeing first hand how people of every background lived. I was learning how to do different things around the house.

When the other teenagers were out dragging in sports cars or smoking pot, my "mean" parents had me with them at the congregation meetings. I never got to experience a night in jail. I never go to know what it was like to get drunk and get thrown out of bars. No, my "mean" parents, Jehovah's Witnesses, and I were busy going to Springfield, Amherst, Lowell and other parts of New England to attend conventions.

My "mean" parents never let me be exposed to any of the worldly celebrities. All I've ever gotten to meet and get acquainted with are the ones that Jesus Christ has selected to rule with him as kings and priests over all mankind.

I never can look back and recall the good ole days, just sitting around doing nothing. That never happened with me having “mean parents,. There were always too many things to be done. They never allowed me to date or to associate with others just my own age. instead, I had to associate with ones who were old, Ones that were old in years spiritually. Ones that were in the service many, many years

My "mean" parents even went so far as to map out my future for me. Instead of a college education they started making plans for me early in life. They even took it upon themselves to decide that they wanted me to live on this earth and share in the "work" of making it a paradise. They have done everything in their power to make that desire a reality. Imagine living in a beautiful paradise earth forever? Never having to know the thrills of man's wars, never having experienced the thought of knowing that you had takin the lives of your fellow men in war.

My "mean" parents were strict. They wouldn't permit any wrongdoing on my part. I don't know the experience of having to go to the doctor because of diseases common to persons indulging in immoral conduct. I don't know the problems of having an unwanted child. Instead, they insisted that I wait until I was grown and strong spiritually before they permitted me to date. And then, only because it was someone of their liking, someone who would be of the same disposition that. they are.

So I married someone who met the high standards of my "mean" parents. She, too, was raised by "mean" parents. And together, we've decided that we intend to be the same kind of "mean" parents ours were.

more will come, when I find them

Forest for the Trees

I once took a walk in the cool night air

To collect my thoughts and to offer prayer:

"Jehovah, how could my brother treat me this way?

It hurt me so much what he did today."

"What was this brother even thinking of?

Doesn't he know how to show real love?"

I walked a while longer, then turned with a sigh....

Look! A great forest piercing the sky!

How pleasant, how grand this forest of trees,

In union they swayed from a rushing breeze.

This forest was a haven, a place of rest,

Where deer could lie down and sparrows could nest.

I shifted my course for a clearer sight

Of these towering timbers in all their might.

But as I came closer it was clear to me

That something was wrong with every tree.

One was rotten, about to collapse.

Another was stunted, lack of water perhaps.

One had from lightning been shattered apart

There were some where disease had gotten a start.

Yes, the longer I looked the more I could see

That not even one was a perfect tree.

Could these huge trees have a lesson to give

Which would help me in peace with my brother live?

If you yourself have been in a quarrel

Then listen to this, for here is the moral:

No man can be perfect as many will say

And some will offend like that brother today.

But, take a step back, look around if you would

At the beauty and peace of our brotherhood.

Jehovah is with us, of this I am sure.

For in union we speak the language that's pure.

And the best proof we have that we're blessed from above,

Is the way we forgive with brotherly love.

So you'll worship Jehovah with much greater ease.

If you don't miss the beauty of the forest for the trees.

Building One Another Up

A heart is deep, a well of thought,

Where wisdom waits, by patience sought.

With tactful care, we draw it near,

To learn our brother’s needs sincere.

Do they have food, supplies in store?

Do they need help, or something more?

A home at risk, a job unsure,

Medicine, aid—we help endure.

Jehovah’s call, a sacred trust,

To show our love, our care robust.

A simple act, a card, a meal,

Can strengthen hearts and help them heal.

A child’s bright drawing, full of cheer,

May chase away a brother’s fear.

A young one’s errand, thoughtfully run,

Brings joy and peace to everyone.

For elders worn by heavy strain,

A thank-you note can ease the pain.

Through outbreaks, trials, fears that spread,

Our kindness lifts each weary head.

Oh, what delight to play our part,

To share with love, to soothe a heart!

As Paul encouraged, let us too,

Keep building up in all we do.

There is some great poetry here and, although I am nowhere near being a poet myself, I adapted a version of the poem 'Footprints in the Sand':

One day on the beach, I fell asleep and then I dreamed a dream.

Walking along were other feet, too, we seemed to be a team

I realised those feet were a support from God to help me in my life

Scenes of past errors flashed into mind reminding me of strife

Through each past error I saw those feet along with mine, to guide

They saw me fall, and picked me up, they never tried to hide

Then I had a sudden shock, when things were very bad

I looked and saw my own feet were the only ones I had

I prayed to God and said, I follow you, but I am left alone

I want to praise you every day until my life is done

T’was then a voice said ‘I was always walking by your side’

But, no, that isn’t true was what I defiantly replied

He then said ‘those feet you saw when feeling left alone’

Was when I carried you across, so never on your own.

“The Deeper Truths”

The pages of Scripture, so oft we turn,

Yet treasures lie hidden for those who yearn.

Not merely the surface, not words alone,

But lessons in whispers, truths yet unknown.

A verse may be simple, its teaching clear,

Yet deeper insights may still appear.

With prayerful thought and a heart awake,

New gems of wisdom the soul can take.

The God of the living, His promise secure,

His love and His purpose forever endure.

In life or in death, His care does remain,

A hope everlasting, an end to all pain.

So read with alertness, with eyes that perceive,

And grasp every meaning His words may weave.

For beneath each story, a truth may be found,

A promise eternal, a love profound.
