Why are the topics open to the general public?

Was warned to be careful with my posts because the threads are open to the public, is that true? To gain access, you don't need to have a login and password, honestly I found it worrying,many private conversations that belong only to us, this can't be a problem for someone who doesn't know anything about us ? Is there a way to set it to be private? Thanks

Some sections of the site are open to the public, while others are private and are only visible for members. In the main page all sections are clearly marked as "publicly visible" or "members only". "Publicly visible" means that anyone can read their contents, but of course only members can post.

 

Public sections are mostly Encouragement and News about Jehovah's Witnesses. They are intended to give a good witness to those who are searching information about Jehovah's Witnesses online. Of course, we should keep good behavior and respect and kindness in all sections, not just those for the public.

Okay I was thinking if it will be possible to have a general discussion section that is only visible to full members.

ever since I found out the general discussion section is viewed  by the public I have felt concern starting a discussion there.

I feel the general discission section should be made private ie visible to only members while only the section on news about Jehovah's witnesses can remain visible to the public.

 

I think this is important because even in the general discussion section sometimes we may express our differing views on matters discussed and it may not be good for the public who do not yet understand the bible the way we do.
