So, Brothers, please click on Automatic Backup to your computer. And at least once a month, back up externally.

If you are the only admin then sure. But if there is another admin that logs in regularly then you automatically have an offsite backup.

In the support docs it says that if a person is deceased you should select their name and in the Information tab click the Delete button.  When I select a person there is no Delete button anywhere on the Information page or in any of the other tabs. I thought it used to be down at the bottom on the right side along with the Moved button.  The docs say you can also click the Moved box but I think that leaves all of the persons data in NWS.  Any suggestions?

I think it would be good if one of the Emergency Contacts in NWP was designated as Medical Emergency Contact. The elders would know who to contact if there was a medical emergency and the AHCD information wasn't available.

I agree with this idea (using the same designation used on the DPA: 'Health Care Agent', in our state). It would make it a lot easier for elders to verify that each publisher had the needed information on hand.

We had a real-life situation a few years ago where this would have helped. An elderly sister with no immediate family ended up in the ER unconscious, and no one knew who her Health Care Agent was. Yes, she should have had her DPA in her wallet, but she didn't. It took several hours of effort before the elders could locate her DPA at her house and get someone to authorize her treatment.

There is a simple work-around, though, in NWP. In setting up an emergency contact, there is a field called "Relationship". The user can simply make entries like: "Sister and Primary Health Care Agent", etc.

Agreed, having a designated field would make it easier to locate the information quickly. Hopefully it would show up in a report if they didn't fill out the information.

I would appreciate someone forwarding this to the NWP/NWS team.

I don't know. I am hoping that someone here has communicated with the brothers that work on the app and are willing to forward the suggestion. I don't want to go through the process of contacting them.

Today I had a new insight I’d like to share. Baruch has been inspired by existing systems like NWS, but the goal is to address common pain points like supporting multiple devices, versioning, EU privacy regulations (GDPR), and maintenance complexity.

I’d like to share how I plan to approach this and what direction I’m taking.

Feedback and suggestions are very welcome especially from experienced brothers who are using NWS.

I cannot speak for the brothers that work on that app, but I can tell you from observation, They don't do anything that is beyond what the organization has directed the brothers us to do within the congregation.

about six or eight years ago, the congregation was directed to stop holding copies of of persons, healthcare proxy or advanced medical directive. That was not the responsibility of the congregation. That is a person's personal responsibility between them and their emergency contacts. I wonder now, as I write this, if it also has to do with HIPPA.

I understand what you are saying. It seems it wouldn't be any different than the Emergency Contact information we already provide on the app, but one of the fields would be designated as Medical Emergency. It would make it easier for the elders to contact the right person in case of a medical emergency if the DPA/AHCD information wasn't available.

Updated NWP this morning to version 4.0.0 #338. In the Google Play store "What's New" section for the app, it lists:

- Many new Territory features, including sharing territories with other publishers, field service groups and your family.
- New progress percentage for territories
- New Territory List and Address Filters
- New Get Address at this Location button when adding new addresses

Am I the only one not seeing these after updating the app?

As far as I know, the developers of NW Schedule and NW Publisher are not members here.

If we want to send them a suggestion, it has to be done through their support page. They won't read it here.

I am torn on this because I know we cannot ask for copies of DPA cards anymore and we were told to destroy any copies we already had. At the same time though we were told that the friends could give copies to whoever they wish but the congregation does not keep that in the congregation file.

But I agree I would like to have the information on health care agents so we know who to contact. Personally if it came up in our congregation I would ask the CO first. As of right now we are not collecting that information.

I understand what you are saying but technically it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the DPA/AHCD, it could be just who they would like contacted in a Medical Emergency if it is different than who they have listed as an Emergency Contact. The user determines if they want to list a contact and who it will be. It doesn't have to be anyone that is listed on their DPA.

That's a shame. I cringe anytime it seems necessary to contact the developers. They seem to give the vibe that they would prefer to not hear from users as much as possible. 😬

Yes, my app upgraded to 4.0.0 this morning, but I don't see any of those new features.

What is odd is that in NW Scheduler, NW App Devices shows my client as 3.9.7, along with all other users. Is it normal for the reported version in the back end to be different?
