Creepy Crawlies

Recommended Posts

When our children were young, there were various crazes for different  but unusual pets, one our children's friends had a pink toed tarantula (that's another story), but ours had stick insects. Sound ok?

Well, it came to the time when we were having our Tuesday evening group study (do you remember those days?), anyway, back to the main point. It just so happened that the fixing mechanism on the stick insects terrarium, came loose and a number of them got out. The case was just behind two elderly sisters, one of whom was hyper-sensitive to small creatures. I could see from my vantage point two of these creatures climbing the wall behind her, as could the brother sat next to me. It would have been ok if another couple's child hadn't said "look at those big grasshoppers on the wall" pointing as he said it. I blush to think about it, but the sister did ask to change groups, and I can't blame her.

There always be Creepy Crawlies. I hope kids will enjoy it while making mud pies.

Wow, that's interesting! I like looking at tarantulas through glass on an enclosure. Not sure I could cope with letting it free wander my residence...

I kept the scorpion in a 20 gallon tank with metal screen cover. Coconut fiber substrate and small heating pad underneath.

I attended a book study group at a local brother's home.

We sat outside in the carport - it was cool there and lovely breezes (at the beach).

After one study, their young son disappeared as we sat around chatting.

He showed up and plunked a very large green frog on my lap.

I just stared at it, afraid to move. (I later learned there's a huge difference between green frogs and toads)

His Dad quickly jumped up and scooped the frog and took him to a better location.

I admit, it took me a while for the shock to wear off; but of course, it didn't stop me from going to that study.
