Border standoff between Texas, feds intensifies

Recommended Posts

Things are heating up @ the border. All the political mumbo-jumbo aside, this is looking like a Fort Sumter-like situation.

Texas is openly defying the federal gov’t and Supreme Court and even using the National Guard to stop federal authorities from accessing the river crossing. In the old days the president would have almost immediately federalized the Guard, taking it out of the governor’s control, and quickly enforced the federal government’s will, as had happened in the civil rights era. (Little Rock’57, for example, etc.)

Now there is just arguing back and forth about who has what jurisdiction, or whatever, and a lack of decisive action on the federal government’s part, to reassert their authority.

It reminds me of Daniel’s prophecy @ Daniel 2:41-43. The seventh world power was foretold to be partly strong and partly fragile. The federal government has the power to quickly assert its will (iron), but it is constantly hampered by the common people, as well as individual governors and politicians on Capitol Hill (clay).

The result is a nation with an extremely powerful military and all the means to enforce its might, but yet is constantly undermined and weakened by its own people, hampering its ability to forcefully act. It’s just as a recent WT described.

These news events convince me more and more everyday about the accuracy of Jehovah’s prophecies about the future.
