The Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohammed Morsi just won the Presidential election in Egypt, and thus far the rhetoric towards Israel has been pretty harsh. The whole middle east is just a powder keg waiting to go off.

My dad is heading to Israel on Friday for the convention.

I am not gonna deny it, I am nervous. I will have no phone contact with him for the 12 days he is gone.

I trust in Jehovah that he and the other brothers/sisters attending the convention will be safe.

The Middle East has always been a war zone, it's a scary place.

I will be saying special prayers for your father and ALL our brothers and sisters Ava--but it makers it so personal to know someone who knows someone so to speak that will be there!

Not too long ago I used to hear from a brother on another forum that actually lives in Israel. The political situation is very difficult, but the brothers look after each other there, even the ones visiting. So I'm sure they're all in good hands. :)

Ava, when I travel internationally, I check in grocery stores or convenience stores once I get there and can get international phone cards very cheap. Its how I have been able to stay in contact when I am away. Lots of places a 5 or 10 dollar card will be plenty, and Israel probably has cheap rates as well.
