Here we have Samsung Galaxy S2 (oldish) - works very well, and the latest Galaxy Tab S9 series have a very good reputation but, like iPads they are pricey.

Currently also using iPad Air 2 (also oldish) - works well for what it needs to do. Planning to go for an iPad Air 6  when they come out in May, with the latest pen offering and keyboard. Here in the UK, the package is likely to be around £1,400

I watch other brothers on the platform with lower grade equipment, and it often fails in some way. The Samsung and Apple seem more resilient, so I would stay with one of them.

That depends a lot on your budget and needs/use case. Basic web browsing, email, Zoom, what else? When you say keyboard and mouse, I'm assuming you want a laptop, but most all tablets can use keyboard and mice as well. There are also touchscreen tablet/2-in-1 laptops.

When it comes to most tech, don't consider buying anything older than 5 years unless you really know what you're doing. Used/refurbs can be great deals depending on the type of product. You don't need the best and newest, but higher tier previous generation stuff tends to have the best value.

If all you want is a modern, fast tablet that can do everything most people need, you can't really go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite running Android, they regularly go on sale for $200ish. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Samsung-Galaxy-S6-Lite-10-4-FHD-Tablet-64GB-S-Pen-Included-Wi-Fi-Oxford-Gray/468424924 Easy to get a bluetooth keyboard case for that model or a keyboard with a tablet slot. https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Bluetooth-Multi-Device-Keyboard-K480/dp/B00MUTWLW4/ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BYJ4RL77/

If you want a laptop, there are a few options. I have a cheap, technically slow tablet laptop with a 13" OLED screen that I got for $230 as a like-new return that I love, and because I was able to set it up properly to get rid of all the Windows bloat that slows it down, it was perfect for my light browser use cases and video streaming, even managed hosting Zoom okay. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09V1SNYTL/ However, most people would do better to get a Windows laptop with a 15" IPS screen, Intel i5 or Ryzen 5 processor, 256GB+ SSD, 8GB+ RAM in the $400 range. My typical recommendations are either the Acer Aspire 5 or Asus VivoBook lines.

If you're a stickler for Apple, just get whatever the newest Air model is and be ready to pay through the nose. You can easily find faster and reliable hardware for less elsewhere, but it lacks Apple's software/hardware integrated ecosystem.
