IMG_9141.thumb.jpeg.6f4a025630147f76a9a8c6149d415a3b.jpegSo tonight is the decider in our Rugby League State of Origin game.  For those outside Australia this is an annual game played 3 times to decide the winner.  It is between the States of Queensland and New South Wales.  We live in NSW but my husband barracks for QLD.  Tonight he has been invited to watch the decider game in a corporate box at the Brisbane Suncorp stadium.  He is super excited to be going.  Me I don’t barrack for any side so not bothered either way.  If his team wins it will be a cracker of a night for him.🏉🏉🏟️🏟️

Nope, they didn't win the penalty count, nor the game.

I really don't watch State of Origin, ever since the Broncos were admitted into the competition. Any team playing the Broncos was playing against Queensland anyways in my books, as the Broncos had the bulk of the Queensland team in their side. So it lost the essence to me, as I liked to watch a game with unknown opposition to us New South Welshmen, which made the game more interesting to watch.

The only time I did watch it with intensity was when the Super League was on. During which time, any players who had affliliated to the Super League side were banned from playing in the State of Origin, which then excluded the players from Broncos participating. Because Queensland had so many players affiliated with Super League, that were immensely the under dogs, as they had to scroung up players that wouldn't normally been picked in the side, so a rag tag team with an inexperienced coach still won the State of Origin series 3-0.

However, it is just a money spinner now, and what happens in "Origin" (us Aussies abbreviate everything) in regards to the rule book are generally thrown out the window. Thus I lost interest in watching it on TV, other than when Roy & HG used to call the game on the radio, then I would mute the TV and have them commentate the game, which I always liked their sense of humour.

Other than that I follow the Bunnies (was a season ticket holder for years before COVID). However I hate watching the games on TV, as I prefer to watch them at the ground where you see the entire field and all the goings on instead of the TV camera just focusing on the play of the ball area, and the commentators they have are rubbish to listen to.

As for being caught on TV during the broadcast well, let's just say, I have lost count. Let alone been caught on camera on the newspaper articles, club promotional material etc, or featured in footy related shows where a brother and I were recognised for from the fence sledging a particular player that had a habit of kicking for goals from a sideline, where that player was interviewed and was asked how he felt about us during that game, which he replied "the we were the best at sledging he ever heard and actually liked us, as we didn't swear, nor said anything racial or the sort, just good ol' taunting of trying to put him off at kicking at goals", of which he generally was successful at getting. Generally I liked to seat as close to the game as possible which is usually at the fence, which I bang with my hands to my hearts content.

Yep pic taken Weds morning and as we now know Qld lost.

My nephew wss on TV at the Wallaby's game against the Georgia today. His Rugby club had the honour of escorting both teams onto the field before the game. His head was just caught as the players were singing the national anthems. (My brother and his family are not in the truth).
