Intersection of faith and politics a central message at Republican convention

Recommended Posts

Very interesting for us in the "time of the feet!" I like PBS News Hour because are usually very balanced in their reporting and generally do not sensationalize in comparison to other outlets.

Senior correspondent Judy Woodruff reports on the central role of religion and politics at the RNC, about the way that attendees and speakers feel their "faith has been invoked" by Donald Trump surviving the assassination attempt and this has "elevated [their perception of Trump] as God's chosen one" and a "Messianic figure;" about recent data that "80% of self-identified evangelicals identify as Republicans." She also notes that this is not universal and that many of those interviewed at the RNC also expressed that they feel that there should be more room for other religions besides Christianity in politics.

Made me think of this….

From the Insight book…

However, at Matthew 24:30 and Luke 21:27, Jesus prophesied regarding “the sign of the Son of man” immediately after mentioning celestial phenomena of the sort that the Bible associates with divine execution of judgment on wicked humans. (Compare Mt 24:29 and Lu 21:25, 26 with Isa 13:9, 10 and Joe 2:30, 31.) Since “all the tribes of the earth . . . will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” and will “beat themselves in lamentation,” it is evident that this refers to a time when a supernatural display of Jesus’ kingly power will strike fear into the hearts of humans who have not conformed to God’s will.

Jer 29:11-“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 56:3-“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Romans 8:38-”For I am convinced...”

Zechariah 14:13 was quoted in today's Watchtower:

Quote

“In that day confusion from Jehovah will be widespread among them; and each one will grab hold of the hand of his companion, and his hand will come against the hand of his companion.

"Confusion from Jehovah" will be widespread. What will that look like - worse than the last time He caused confusion at the tower of Babel?

Interesting times ....

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

Soon .....
