Will there be the internet during the Great Tribulation?

I'm wondering if the GB will make a backup app with a generic name and icon that we'll, or the elders, will be told about when the time comes and that's how they'll communicate with us.

Good question, but no matter what, the OD 17: 15-16 is reassuring

Tests that come because of wars, revolutions, or outright persecution and official bans may make it impossible for you to carry on Christian worship openly. You may not be able to meet as a congregation. Contact with the branch office may be cut off. Visits by circuit overseers may be interrupted. Publications may not arrive. If any of these things happen, what should you do?The answer is, do whatever you can and as much as you can under the circumstances. Personal study should be possible. Small groups can usually meet for study in private homes. Publications studied in the past and the Bible itself can be used as a basis for meetings. Do not worry or get excited. The Governing Body will generally be able to establish some form of communication with responsible brothers in a short time.

If you notice in the basement video, all of them have hard copies of the Bible. Not one of them are carrying phones.

The secular authorities can easily trace one’s cell phone, thru the information fed from a specific phone to the nearest cell tower. We might be ordered by the brothers to stop using our cells to make it harder for the enemy to find us during the final all-out attack.

Yes, I expect that the direction we don't fully understand could involve leaving our phones behind, not allowing ones with electronic devices into the 'hidden room', etc. "But how will I stay in touch?" The friends as a whole and even me included have trouble following direction so we'll see how it goes...

My wife thinks we'll have a big solar flare Carrington Event kind of toast of all the world's communication systems and electronics.

This isn’t fear—it’s focus. It’s the realization that our greatest provision doesn’t come from planning out every scenario. It comes from Jehovah knowing exactly where we are, and what we need, when the moment comes.

I especially like this point. We just had our circuit assembly with a branch representative recently. We were privileged to have Br. Lett. One of his last encouraging thoughts to us was: "Keep looking up [to Jehovah] and ahead!"

I'll further add that as to devices or hard copies of Bibles and such ... for a few years now I've been working on memorizing Kingdom Melodies. Once in my mind, I know they will really come in handy to keep my heart cheerful no matter the circumstances I may find myself in. I'm hoping others among the friends will be able to benefit from that encouragement too ... or with more songs from others memory we could put a bit of a songbook together. 🙂

Man, if you call it a small power outage, we can accept it, but in Spain and Portugal it was more than that.
ok?😉🥴

Morse code.

It's time to learn this subject of communication. It has always been relevant, due to the lack of Internet. And if there is no electricity, transmission by light beam through a flashlight.

Pigeons.

I think it was not in vain that the brothers showed us the video at the 2024 Regional Convention about homing pigeons.

While Morse code is a useful skill ... during the GT, what language would Morse code use - not everyone speaks the same language or uses the same alphabet.

Dear Brother John, this was of course a joke, as no one in the congregations will use such methods of communication today. But ...

But I know there is a guideline not to delete the JW Library app from your smartphones, tablets, laptops and PCs, even if the government blocks the Internet or the Organization's website, and it is forbidden to use printed publications. Use any possible methods of downloading files in the app, reading and watching videos and audio. In this way, brothers and sisters will support themselves spiritually. There is also a guideline to store printed literature in special hiding places.

Another important method during the pursuit and it will always be relevant, in any conditions, is the courier activity of information delivery. This is a reliable way of transmitting important information.
