Looking for lost orchestral & choral recording of JW songs (rare, not on official site)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone here might recognize or have a lead on a very high-quality orchestral and choral recording of JW songs that I used to own on cassette over 30 years ago (sadly lost since then).

Here’s what I remember about it:

  • It was an incredibly skilled orchestral and choral performance—far beyond the usual simple style. Honestly, it sounded so professional that I sometimes wonder if brothers might have hired non-JW professional musicians for the recording.
  • It was *not* something ever officially listed on the Society’s product catalogs, as far as I know.
  • It’s not on jw\.org or any other official site.
  • It was probably recorded before 1983, since many songs seemed selected from *Singing and Accompanying Yourselves with Music in Your Hearts* (1966). But some songs might also have come from *Sing Praises to Jehovah* (1984), so it’s not certain.
  • It was **not in English, Portuguese, Spanish, or French**—but definitely a European language.
  • The first track was No. 86 “The Marriage of the Lamb” from the 1966 songbook, beginning with an elaborate violin solo that built into a grand orchestral arrangement, sounding very different from the simple original melody.
  • It also included No. 75 “The Fruit of Self-Control” with a round (canon) arrangement.
  • It lasted somewhere between several tens of minutes to about an hour.
  • The final track was an extremely powerful choral version of No. 28 “Give Jehovah the Praise.”
  • Every song was arranged in an impressively grand, even majestic style—absolutely nothing “simple” about it.

I have never seen this audio online—not even once.

Has anyone here ever heard this recording? Do you own a copy of the audio? Or do you know anywhere online where it’s shared?

If you have any information or leads, I’d be deeply grateful if you could share.

Thanks so much in advance!

To quickly check the songs, please refer to the following site if needed:

There were a few recordings of songs from various songbooks, starting back in the early 1980s. Some were vocals, others instrumental, but many of them are no longer on jw.org. I have a few, noteably:

  • Kingdom Melodies
  • Sing to Jehovah—Chorus
  • Sing to Jehovah—Orchestral Accompaniment

Do any of those sound familiar? I have sent you the links for them in a PM.

If anyone else would like them, send me a PM. Do not respond here. (I may miss it.)

Brother Andrey and Sister Vonny,

Thank you so much for mentioning Stimmen aus Österreich singen Königreichslieder.

My family actually owns that CD as well. It really does have some beautiful music on it. Seeing the link that Sister Vonny shared brought it back to mind. But it’s definitely a different production from the recording I’m trying to find—it’s also much newer by comparison.

The one I lost was a cassette I had from the late 1980s to early 1990s. It wasn’t just a small amateur project—it was quite a large-scale production with impressive orchestration, choral arrangements, soloists and instrumentalists changing throughout. Even as a non-musician, I could tell how professionally it was done.

There was no narration or introduction—just continuous music from start to finish. Unfortunately, I lent it to some friends who loved music, and they seem to have lost it. It never came back to me.

Thanks again for trying to help—I really appreciate it.

Hi kejedo,

When you wrote "wish I still had this", did you mean you once had the same kind of recording I’m looking for?

If you happen to remember anything about it—like where or when you got it, what language it was in, or any other details—I’d be grateful to hear. Even small hints could be helpful in my search.

Thanks so much!

I have it on my mac. I ripped it because the cd has worn out of too much use (probably still have it but it’s do scratched). I think this is the most artistic version of sny of our songs.

Dear brother Michał, can you write what kind of recording of a musical piece this is, the title, so that we know approximately what we are talking about. Write the title, please.

Wow, I can’t believe someone actually has it! I’m so happy to hear that!

I’ve been looking for this for such a long time—it’s really wonderful just knowing someone still has it preserved.

Thank you so much to everyone who’s helped and shared ideas so far. I really appreciate all the support!
