The quake story is very disappointing to hear.

It is not a good idea to name countries like this who don't appear in the year book listing and ask if the brothers are OK. I have met refugees from places where activity is banned and they are fearful of governmental risks if they are discovered. Their fear is real. Debating and enquiring shows up on Google searches for such gov'mts to see. If anyone knows anything truthful about the situation they will/should not post it here.

Are we under ban in Iran? (I am on vacation and have nothing to look it up).

The news article article sounds like it is bad over there. If we have/had some, most certainly they have been affected.

Iran is one of those predominantly muslim (understatement) countries, right?

I know some of those areas it is nearly impossible (seemingly) to penetrate with the good news.

Earlier this year I read in older yearbooks that the good news got to Syria, Lebanon and other middle eastern states after world war II, so there may be friends there, but as was stated earlier, they're probably under ban and we should not do anything to bring any undue attention to them
