Listening to Morning Worship on Android

Recommended Posts

Hi!

2 years ago I had target to listen to all of Morning Worship recordings during my morning walks with dog in JW Library. It was great in my situation and daily habits. I have listened to everything from that section. To not loose what i have already listened to, after a walk i downloaded file for next day and deleted file that I've just finished.

I wanted to do it one more time. But in the meantime i switched from iPhone to Android (Samsung). And I have a lot of friction:

1. There are sooooooo many videos that getting through all of them to the end (I wanted to start from the oldest) is hard, and after couple of videos I simply get lost in JW Library when trying to find the one that I finished.

2. When I listen to the program, it pauses after around 1-3 minutes and unfortunately clicking my earbuds doesn't work. I have to click "play" on the phone screen (kind of frustrating, but mostly problematic in cold days - additionally I walk with a leash in hand which doesn't help).

Do you have any idea do to workaround this problems? It sounds quite pathetic as I wrote it, but I know myself and making act easy is most crucial form me to build good habit.

I don't know why it would pause unless something is interacting with your touch earbuds/screen. Your phone could potentially pause videos if the screen automatically turns off, but I don't think it should sleep by default when playing video. It isn't necessarily something to do with Android itself, it could be something your phone brand has changed in their skin or your settings.

As for workarounds, if it's an issue with JW Library, you might try downloading all of the videos you want to watch in low/medium quality from the website, put them in a folder / playlist in any free and open source media player such as VLC (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videolan.vlc or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.fossify.musicplayer), and then delete them as you go? https://www.jw.org/en/library/videos/#en/categories/VODPgmEvtMorningWorship

Brother Alex,

I also don't have a clue why it pauses - I've tried different earbuds, locked and unlocked screen (PIP mode also). When phone is in pocket (screen away from body) it just pauses. I have checked also battery saving modes etc - JW Library is previlaged in every mode.

I tought about third party media player, but downloading every video one by one overwhelmed me. Is there any option do download all at once?

There is another option you might consider. Download the videos and convert them to MP3 files. I have done that in the past using free software such as GoldWave. If you don't have the times or skills to do that, perhaps someone here can do it for you. The MP3 music files can be organized into albums or playlists by subject or any way you like. You can play them with any media player you may already have.

If you decide to do that, please tell us what works for you, others may want to do the same thing.
