What do You think "work" and learning might be like in the New World?

Recommended Posts

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it will be like to learn about Jehovah’s creations in the New World, and what types of "work" will still exist. I really look forward to being able to study and understand these former-to-new things from Jehovah’s perspective, without the limits we have now.

After reading another Forum about concerns with animal suffering, it made me wonder how certain fields of study today might change. For example, there are jobs now focused on studying animal predation, like predator biologists or carnivore researchers.

When I think about Isaiah 11:6–9 and 65:25, where former predators lie down and eating straw with former prey. It made me think: if conditions are peaceful like this in the future, what would happen to those former kinds of jobs that focused on certain former behaviors, biology, science? Will they cease to exist? Or will others change into something new?

I know we can’t say for sure how everything will work, but it’s encouraging to think about how learning might be different, deeper, and more complete.

What do y'all think?

Are there things you’re especially excited to learn or understand in the New World?

What job/role can you think of that may change, and what drew your interest to them?

I have always thought that children will be schooled in some manner.  Parents will be far more involved than now.  Experts can also aid in schooling children.  I can see one day a week being devoted to learning that continues into adulthood.

Things will have to be organized.  You won't be able too just go out and start building a house where someone else had planned to have a garden.  Things will be done orderly.

I am sure a lot of work and planning will go into learning about solar energy and wind energy and storage without batteries.  Maybe an inground water tank for heat storage.

Earth tubes can go a long way to heating and cooling a house.  Tubes buried ten feet in the ground that allows conditioned air (warmer or cooler than outside air) can be used to stabilize house temperatures year-round.

People who were doctors in this system can be retrained to do other things.  We can study the best way to take care of the animal population of the earth.

I assume that we will have some sort of communication, whether it might be something like the Postal Service and someday electronic communications around the world.

Energy production rates high with me.  Ways to produce electricity, heat, energy that are clean.  Solar and Wind are obvious.  Will hydrogen fuel cells be used to produce electricity for a house and power a vehicle?  Or will purely electric motors power all types of vehicles?  Will we have electricity transmitted from a central place to power both houses and cars?  Could we build roads that use inductors to transfer power to vehicles travelling anywhere?  Could pedal powered vehicles be used at times?

Learning will be lifelong process.  We never stop learning about Jehovah and his purposes.

I am very interested in oceanography and I am looking forward to caring for the ocean and ocean creatures in the new system.

I spent many years in the oil industry and I think that job will change a lot in the new system.
