3 Miles Apart… That’s How Big Jehovah’s Universe Is

Recommended Posts

This really helps put into perspective how big Jehovah’s universe is. We’ve all heard the quote that there are as many stars in the heavens as there are grains of sand on all the beaches of the earth—and Jehovah knows them all by name. But sometimes we don’t stop to think about what that actually means.

If you cup your hands and scoop up some sand, there are thousands of grains in just that one handful. You couldn’t realistically count them, and even if you tried, it would take a long time.

Now here’s what really brings it into focus: to match the scale of the universe, each one of those tiny grains would have to be placed about 3 miles apart from each other.

Just think about that for a moment. It really shows how truly amazing and powerful Jehovah is.

We can't forget that the universe is expanding as well, so more galaxies, stars, and planets being born and named!

Does the universe expanding mean that more stars and galaxies are being created?  Matter and Energy cannot be created or destroyed; they can only be changed from one form to the other.  Creation of matter or energy (or both at once) can only be accomplished by Jehovah.

In a sense, yes. Jehovah designed his creation to be self-sustaining. Just like here on earth—with the water cycle, plant life, animals, and even humans—there’s a pattern where things pass away and new ones take their place. It’s an ongoing, balanced cycle.

The same principle can be seen on a much larger scale in the universe. Stars and galaxies are constantly changing—some come to an end while new ones are formed.

Everything works together in an orderly, efficient way, almost as if it takes care of itself without the need for constant intervention.

When you think about it, it really shows Jehovah’s wisdom and brilliance in creation. And what’s especially comforting for us is his promise for the future—that in the new system, we won’t have to face death at all. That truly highlights what a loving God he is.
