I just wanted to share this. As a zero carb carnivore, it's such a boon to have provable evidence of some of the benefits of genuinely low carbohydrate diets compared to others. It's not a matter of weight, it's your metabolism that will really benefit your health.

nice. i'm mostly whole food animal based diet now. i went from low carb, dirty lazy keto, to lazy, to clean keto, to carnivore to, now whole foods with an emphasis on raw everything and mediterranean and mexican based. all of my keto adventures have been net carb, not total. i was on 5 drugs 4 for mental health and 1 for my heart. i'm on zero now. my wife and i even for hospitality or after service will just get water if we go out to eat. i went from 275 to 180. only walked and never went to a gym.

fat is demonized and fat (olive/avocado & animal) is what has helped my audhd.

for the most part, if there is more than 3-8 ingredients on a label, im not eating it.

low carb and carnivore works pretty well for people that sit all day. i'm an IT, i sit all day. so i prioritize berries and meat. i mostly follow an animal based diet. i say to anyone. follow what works. BUT, it better be clean. don't give me keto on the packaging and have 50 lab/petrochemicals...

love the info my brother. keep it up! lets go!! 😁

I did the Atkins diet 30 years ago.  I would lose a pound a day when doing the diet.  I was thirsty all the time.  I drank water with meals and between meals.  The downside was constipation and horrible breath.  Brushing my teeth made no difference.  The odor came from my lungs,  I saw people standing 5 feet away from me react when I spoke.

I am more interested in plant-based diets today, but my wife is on a Keto kick.  I don't sit all day nor do I get enough exercise.  I need to work on the exercise more.

I'm sorry that you had an uncomfortable experience. If you take the time to learn how the metabolic pathways function, it's all very logical in why those things happen to some, and what your body is trying to tell you that you need. For example, when I first went low carb, I definitely had issues with heart palpitations and muscle twitches. But these typically go away given a little time and addressing the root cause. Electrolyte and fluid balance is key in that instance. Insulin and fat cells cause you to hold onto water and electrolytes, your body is trying to protect you and your kidneys from the excess blood sugar. When you lower your fasting insulin, your body may need to spend weeks excreting a lot of the waste, needing much more fluids. You often need to drastically increase your uptake of sodium, potassium, magnesium etc as well until your body and hormones stabilize. Once that happens however, your body is able to function more efficiently on lower levels of electrolytes, minerals and fluids, because they are not competing with insulin and sugar to get into the cell receptors where they are needed. Many carnivores actually don't need to drink often because they get much of what they need from meat. That's how cats on raw diets function. Though I try to avoid drinking during or after meals regardless because it raises the ph in the stomach and impedes digestion, which can contribute to constipation. Also eating too much protein and not enough fat, which softens stool. Burning ketones as fuel turns them into carbon dioxide and acetone, hence the smell. Our bodies literally turn weight into gas. Once the excess weight is gone, that typically goes away as well. For me, it was a comfort knowing that my body was doing exactly what Jehovah designed it to do, in order to improve my health and ability to serve him.
