Have you Ever?

Have you ever gotten a field ministry letter and tract from your congregation in your mail?

Yes. Two months ago. First one ever from a neighboring hall.

 twice we got an invitation for this year's memorial, though from a different congregation

Yes, when we lived in another location and letter was from a different cong. But also I think it was at least twice, others in my cong rec'd a letter from me. 😅

I've gotten Witnesses at the door. We waited for a respectful pause and told them we were one of them and they did a good job with their presentation. ❤️

They were working in your cong territory? or maybe you are living outside your cong territory ?

No ... and the letter I sent, I just didn't recognize the brother's last name. At the time he was studying and whenever he got called on they referred to him by his first name. It wasn't until he got baptized did they call him by his last name, Bro So and So. He asked if he could keep the letter! 🥰

Sort of the same for me. But I wasn't baptized yet. I was studying, but with a brother in a different territory. (That's a long story.) And I had never been to the local congregation for the territory I was living in, so these two Witnesses at my door didn't know me. So the brother launched into his presentation.

 

And I just let him continue! His whole presentation! About 2 or 3 minutes! I was listening patiently, pretending to enjoy it. Actually I was enjoying it, but just to hear how he would "sell it" to me. And then, after all that time, I just said, "Very good presentation, brother! I go to another congregation in your hall!"

 

Well, the brother was with his wife at the time, but neither one of them chided me for letting them go on. They just laughed. Actually, the brother did do a good job on presenting the Good News to me, but that's what I was listening for.

 

Yeah, I used to do dumb things like that.

The closest I had to that experience was in 2006 when my wife and I were in Canada in Banff National Park. I was taking pictures of Moraine Lake. And a young man approached me and said "Wouldn't it be nice if every place was a beautiful as this?"

I knew immediately he was a Brother. The quickest way I could think of to convince him I was also, was to pull out my wallet and show him my medical directive card showing NO BLOOD in big red letters.

As it turned out, he was there with two sisters. They had already approached my wife. She showed them some magazines she had brought, even though we flew from Florida to Canada, and were in a rental car, so she would be prepared in the event she had an opportunity to talk to someone.

It is always a "lift" to your spirits when you come across another of Jehovah's "Dear Ones."

Yeap, during COVID when we could only write letters. We had a few new ones move into the congregation and one family was assigned the territory where we lived. 

 

During the Zoom witnessing group, I asked these ones who had sent a letter to our address if they known that are there any do not calls in our area, they said they were not given any. So I showed them the original rural map via the camera where our address was noted down as a Do Not Call with the description - "Wild fiery redhead woman who speaks in tongues, yells curses and knows how to ride a broom." 

 

The looked at each other really worried as they did leave their personal return address, so they looked at their records if they had written one to this address already. When they saw that they had, the look on their faces was priceless.

 

So I calmed their fears by saying that we had gotten the letter and showed it over the camera. They asked how we got the letter, and my reply was "Don't worry, she still wields that broom and still lives here, and that I ended up marrying her".

 

The roar of laughter from the rest of the Zoom attendees was silent, as they all had muted themselves as they knew whose place it was. They allnwere awaiting what my reply would be and wondering if they had a sense of humour themselves.

 

It was noted down as a DNC by a previous elder who left our congregation many years ago who loved a joke.
