I would be on fire with your recipes! LOL X(

I make mine very mild. Any hot stuff makes me light up like a torch. I once told someone that it's a good thing I was not born into a Mexican or Asian family because they'd have to 'put me out' :drink: on a daily basis.

I just made chili yesterday. One thing that is a must is serving it with cornbread. Is there something you have to serve with yours?

My husband loves cornbread with his chili, so yes I make that.

I like my chili with some cheddar cheese on top with some saltines crumbled in it as well.

Cornbread is a great side with chili though!!!

My family likes their food hot and spicy.

  • 3 weeks later...

We are having chili tonight. It cooked most of the day in the slow cooker. My recipe is similar to the above without all the hot stuff:

2- lbs. ground chuck or hamburger (browned & drained)

3 15-oz can chili beans (WalMart)

2 28-oz can petite diced tomatoes

1- large onion, food processed to a pulp (My kids don't like the onion pieces)

2-stalks celery if I have it processed with the onions or 1/2 tsp Celery Seed

1 1/2 - 2.8 oz containers of 5Th Season chili powder

1- tbs. salt

1- tbs. pepper

1/4 cup sugar

V8 to fill the pot

I would love the extra heat, but my wife does not like it that way and since I can add heat but she cannot take it out, we make it not quite so spicy.

We use V8 (or the WalMart brand) instead of "Tomato" juice. It adds some good extra flavor.

I also made fresh bread to go with the chili.
