Can't download & downhearted!

I am downhearted because I can't download from JW.org. magazines or other publications & from any other web sites or programs. Whenever I try to download I get this message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the "Set Associations Control Panel". I can't find where this is. Can some please help me out. Many thanks!

OK, thanks for editing your last comment, I was waiting for a new post! LOL

Click on this link and save the file to your desktop and somewhere that you will be able to find it. Then double click on it and extract the file. Then double click on the "REG" file it contains. Then reboot the computer and try to download something. If this doesn't fix it, the problem may be a virus that is going around and we'll have to deal with that. I will be in and out all day, so don't worry if you don't here from me for a while.

EDIT: That didn't work, so click on this link and save the zipped file and then "unzip" it and run the "REG" file it contains.

OK, use the "finished" post above. I had to edit it a few times because the reg fix file had to be zipped for some reason!

You need a PDF reader like Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com and install it.

No, Windows should still download the file whether there is a program to open it or not, especially common files like PDF's. After it is downloaded, she may need to download a specific program to open it, but not to just download it. The error she is getting is a common error in Windows explorer, which basically runs Windows. The registry fix should take care of it.

I haven't faded away, just still trying to make this work! After I extract the file I can't see a "REG". I know that I'm missing something or I'm just plain dumb
