Has anyone in the States seen this movie yet?  I am so looking forward to it being available on dvd over here in UK.  Not just a baseball film, but the story of Jackie Robinson's fight to play in the Major Leagues, the first black player to do so.

Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey, manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers who brought Robinson to the Majors.

My wife saw this when it came out here in the US and said it was really good. Lots of reminders of what things used to be like in the US.

 

It is funny how recent this was - when black people (called colored then - not a good term) weren't permitted to do certain things or go certain places.

 

I can't wait till the new world when these things will be LONG distant memories - if at all.

“For here I am creating new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be called to mind, neither will they come up into the heart."

 

Did you notice this verse is on the TITLE page of our New World Translation? Open the Bible and look. This is where we get the term "New World" Translation.
