  1. That's true. Some jokes don't translate well into other languages. I used to love comparing the english and spanish editions of our publications when I served in spanish. But now i'm curious. What does the french version say instead?
  2. Oy mate. Why don't ya throw some shrimp on the barbie? New: What not to say when giving a bible study at a nursing home.
  3. I prefer the Pimsleur audio CD's and companion books. As a spanish speaker, I feel confident in recommending them because I've reviewed their entire spanish course. And other languages use pretty much the same curriculum and teaching format. Each lesson is 30 minutes long. You do one lesson a day. They teach you to say something, and you repeat it back to them. Sometimes they ask you questions, and you have a limited time to answer based on what you know. Then they tell you what you should have said. The reading portion has you follow along in a book as a native speaker reads different words aloud. Pimsleur can be a little pricy though. So you may want to see if your library has their stuff.
  4. Welcome to a day where anemia makes me sleep sleep sleep. Now I'm awake... Too early.

  5. Was supposed to be meeting Brandon's mom tomorrow for the first time. Trying not to dwell on it.

  6. Even just offering a listening ear can be a tremendous help. In this manner, we are giving of our time in such a small yet meaningful way.
  7. Totally in agreement with you, Bob. Before wol, there was an Insight book app on the app store and a Reasoning Book app. Before there was the daily text in PDF, there was a daily text app. I used all of them until better apps came out, even when they were pulled from the app store. Just for everyone's information though, the society is not against applications which use data directly copied from wol. In fact, they feel this is respecting their copyright. Such apps are not in violation of copyright law for two reasons. 1. Some apps are simply an interface to access the online material more easily. 2. The apps which store this material offline are first downloading the material off wol. So there is no question of the material being altered in any way or said materials being used without their permission. Hope this helps.
  8. I feel like an old folkie. Brandon's work schedule has me going to bed at eight o'clock. Not falling asleep at 8, but still.

  9. Mr. Rogers neighborhood spin off theme song. Thoughts? https://t.co/OVRe42nozu

  10. Lol Jerry. I missed the second part of that post when I originally read it. So funny that the system chose that as my avatar. I got a kick out of that. Some pictures I can detect without human descriptions. Smilies being the most common thing. Their descriptions are entered into the screen reader. I can also read a picture's file name if it's linked to in a post or attached to it. Often, file names don't help, as they're just random numbers. I keep pictures to show people and give them meaningful names so I know what I'm showing people. But I can't tell what anyone's avatar is on here.
  11. Not tonight, Brother So and So. I've been too busy playing World of Warcraft any time I had a spare moment. I was having so much fun that I just couldn't write that talk, brother. Things you shouldn't say when meeting your future in-laws for the first time.
  12. The techy blind sister.

My Hobbies & Interests

  • My Interests
cooking, messing around with my Mac and iPhone, reading, professional and classically trained vocalist
  • My favorite books
I generally read informational books rather than novels these days. My favorite subjects to read about are cooking, health, and tech.
  • My favorite music
I am quite fond of 90's alternative and grunge. I don't mind music with ocasional rocker screams but none of the hard stuff like death metal. Some of that music just creeps me out. My favorite music to sing is show tunes. I also love listening to r&b, classy pop, salsa, and merenge.
  • My favorite quotes
"If you tame me, then we shall need each other." The Little Prince
